Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash in Sandwich
A motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a crash in Sandwich late Friday was flown by medical helicopter to the hospital, according to police.
Authorities received multiple 911 calls around 7:30 p.m. Friday about the crash involving the motorcycle and a sedan in the area of Quaker Meetinghouse Road and the eastbound ramps for Exit 61, the Sandwich Police Department said in a statement[1].
The driver of the motorcycle, a 34-year-old Hyannis man, suffered serious injuries. He was taken by MedFlight to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, according to the department’s statement.
The person who was driving the sedan was evaluated by the West Barnstable Fire Department and was not taken to the hospital, the department said in its statement.
Crash reconstruction investigators from the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council, Massachusetts State Police and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office came to help the investigation. The road remained closed for several hours, according to the statement.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the department, the statement said.
