Part of a busy city centre[1] road was closed off this rush hour following a collision. Officers were at Fairfield Street, near to the inner ring road at Pin Mill Brow, this evening (May 24).

It followed a crash between a bike and HGV at around 1.40pm, Greater Manchester Police says. A male cyclist has been taken to hospital and no arrests have been made.

The road was closed off heading from Ardwick towards Manchester Piccadilly. Drivers were warned to expect delays in the area.

An update from the Inrix traffic monitoring system said: “A635 Fairfield Street Westbound blocked, heavy traffic due to police incident from A665 Pin Mill Brow to B6469 Fairfield Street.” Several police cars were in attendance.

Yellow evidence markers were been placed on the road. The road reopened at around 6.10pm.
