AN appeal has been launched to raise funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance in memory of a man who died four years ago following a tragic road traffic accident.
Father-of-five Andy Fulford died from his injuries three weeks after being airlifted to Southampton General Hospital following a collision on the A36 on December 20 2019.
Mr Fulford, 47, from Potterne, was driving on the A36 north of Salisbury when he was in collision with a cement lorry near the junction with Stoford and the Woodfords.
Wiltshire Times: Andy Fulford died four years ago following a tragic accident on the A36.
At the time, his wife Caroline said: “It is with great sadness that on January 10, Andrew Fulford – my husband and father to our five beautiful and very brave children – lost his fight for life.
“Andy passed away in Southampton General Hospital as a result of the terrible injuries he sustained in the A360 road collision on 20 December.
“Andy was the most gentle person you could ever hope to meet and his life was centred around his family.”
In his memory, Jasmine Simmonds has started an online appeal to raise funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
She is the partner of Andy’s youngest son, Kian Fulford, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Thursday, May 25.
They are staging a charity football match in order to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance in honour of his dad.
Jasmine said: “Four years ago, myself and Kian got the worst phone call you could possible imagine.
“Andy Fulford, Kian’s dad, had been in a road collision, resulting in him needing immediate medical attention.
“Wiltshire Air Ambulance attended to the incident within six minutes to help Andy.
“If Andy wasn’t air lifted to Southampton Kian and his family wouldn’t have had three weeks to be able to see him. Shortly after, Andy sadly passed away.
“We are raising money for the most genuine, kind-hearted and big cuddlebear that has ever been in our lives.
“Andy would never see anyone else going without and his five children could not be prouder of their dad.”
The game will be held at Rowde Field on Sunday, June 4, with the kick-off at 2pm but supporters are being urged to come down after 12pm.
It will be played between a team from Bishops Cannings and a team called FC Devizes Utd put together by Kian’s friend Oscar Webster.
Already, the online appeal has raised £385 towards its £500 goal. There will be stalls and a raffle at the match to boost the total closer to their £1,000 overall target.
