UPDATE: 2 state troopers injured in crash in Cumberland County
Two Pennsylvania State Police troopers were involved in a crash in Cumberland County while responding to a call.
The troopers were asked to assist with a vehicle pursuit around 10:45 a.m. Friday.
Sign up for our Newsletters[1]On the way to the scene, their vehicle struck a tractor-trailer making a U-turn on Carlisle Pike in Silver Spring Township.
Investigators said both troopers have serious injuries but are in stable condition at a hospital.
The vehicle pursuit the troopers were responding to was related to a theft investigation.
State troopers from Carlisle spotted a vehicle driving recklessly at a high rate of speed on Interstate 81 in South Middleton Township. The troopers learned the vehicle had been involved in a retail theft and fled from Carlisle Borough police.
Investigators said the vehicle was stopped on Route 581, and the three people inside ran.
Two of them were taken into custody within minutes.
The third person stole a Honda Pilot from an uninvolved motorist and led police on another chase, authorities said.
Investigators said that person was taken into custody after crashing in the area of Carlisle Pike and Silver Spring Road.
