West Sussex Fire and police respond to Petworth lorry crash
Police, ambulance and fire services found the heavy goods vehicle crashed in North Street in Petworth in a single vehicle incident.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the village with the A272 closed due to the collision at around 7.42am this morning.
A West Sussex[1] Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “At 7.42am we were alerted to a road traffic collision at North Street, Petworth.

“Joint Fire Control sent two fire engines to the scene.

“Upon arrival crews found one heavy goods vehicle jackknifed in the road.
“Crews are working hard to make the scene safe, and a road closure is being implemented on the A272 between Petworth and Fox Hill.

“We would ask all residents to avoid the area and use alternative routes when travelling.”
Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service are also attending the scene and have been approached for comment.
