2 seriously injured in head-on crash in roundabout near Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — A multi-vehicle pile-up in a roundabout left two drivers hosptialized Saturday morning, police said.

At about 11:41 a.m. June 24, deputies from the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a head-on crash causing injuries and involving multiple vehicles on South Sprinkle Road near East Cork Street in Comstock Township — east of Kalamazoo.

Police believe a vehicle was heading southbound coming through the roundabout on Sprinkle Road when it hit two other southbound vehicles — causing those vehicles to cross into the northbound lane to strike a fourth vehicle head-on.

Two drivers — a 25-year-old from Kalamazoo and a 72-year-old from Richland — were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries. Occupants from other vehicles were not injured, police said.

This crash remains under investigation.

Deputies were assisted by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Comstock Township Fire/Rescue and Life EMS.
