A3 was closed near Guildford after car crashed into central reservation and overturned
The A3 was closed near Guildford in the early hours of Wednesday (June 7) after a car crashed into the central reservation and overturned. The incident affected motorists travelling on the southbound carriageway between the A3100 and A320 near Burpham.[1]
National Highways announced the closure at 2.46am as emergency services rushed to the scene. The road reopened[2] around an hour later with a National Highways spokesperson offering further information as to the cause of the crash.
“A car struck the central reservation and overturned coming to rest on the nearside verge,” they said. “Emergency services worked to clear the area and the carriageway[3] was reopened by 3.50am.” However, when contacted by SurreyLive, Surrey Police[4] described the crash as a "minor incident".
SurreyLive has also contacted the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service[6] and the South East Coast Ambulance Service[7] for further information.
