Bomb threat reported at Riddell production facility: North Ridgeville police blotter

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio

Bomb threat: Performance Lane

On May 31, police and the fire department responded to a bomb threat at Riddell. Employees were evacuated; and Regional Transit Authority Police bomb-sniffing dogs searched the property. An investigation is ongoing.

Compelling prostitution: No address

Police released a report on June 1 that a 24-year-old Elyria man was arrested on a charge of compelling prostitution stemming from a March 20 child exploitation complaint from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The matter is under investigation and further charges could be forthcoming.

Theft: Taylor Parkway

Two businesses reported catalytic converters stolen from trucks on May 31.

Failure to comply: Interstate 480

On May 30, police attempted to stop a driver for multiple traffic violations; but the driver sped away. An investigation is ongoing.

Fraud: No address

An elderly woman was scammed out of $8,000 from a caller posing as her grandson on May 26.

OVI: Avon Belden Road

On May 8, police responded to an injury accident. The at-fault driver was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and endangering children.

Physical control: Center Ridge Road

Police received a complaint of a man asleep in his car holding an alcoholic beverage on May 26. He was arrested and charged with open container and physical control.

OVI: Lorain Road

On May 27, an officer observed a car with a driver wanted on an active warrant. During the traffic stop, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and charged accordingly
