Bournemouth lorry driver dies after crash near Red Funnel Southampton

Police were called after a white HGV crashed on the A33, Herbert Walker Avenue at Town Quay. 

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the driver, a 40-year-old man from Bournemouth, died in hospital following the incident at 5.45am on Thursday

His family have been made aware and are being supported by specialist officers. 

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the collision. 

A spokesperson for the Hampshire force said: “We are now asking for anyone with information about the collision who has not already spoken to the police to come forward.

“Were you in the area at the time? Perhaps you saw a white HGV leaving the Red Funnel Port in the run-up to the collision?

“We would particularly like to speak to anyone with relevant dashcam footage.
