A man from Bournemouth has died after a crash in Southampton. The collision took place on Thursday, June 5, at around 5.45am.

HampshireLive reports[1] a white HGV came from the terminal of the Red Funnel Ferry when it collided with a set of traffic lights on the A33 Herbert Walker Avenue. Emergency services and members of the public provided medical attention to the driver, a 40-year-old man from Bournemouth.

However, the man later sadly died in hospital. Hampshire Police say his family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

The force has now launched a witness appeal urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

A statement on the Hampshire Constabulary website adds: “We are now asking for anyone with information about the collision who has not already spoken to the police to come forward. Were you in the area at the time? Perhaps you saw a white HGV leaving the Red Funnel Port in the run-up to the collision?

“We would particularly like to speak to anyone with relevant dashcam footage. If you have any information about this incident, please report online via our website or call 101 quoting reference 44230236833/Operation Gerrera.”
