A Three Springs man was killed in an early morning crash Friday on Birmingham Pike, near the Blair/Huntingdon County line.

William Lee Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by Huntingdon County Coroner David Dick, according to state police.

The 7 a.m. accident, about a half mile from Huntingdon Furnace Road in Warriors Mark Township, occurred when a southbound 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Brown crossed into the northbound lane several times while negotiating a curve. Brown lost control of the vehicle and struck a 2020 Peterbilt tri-axle truck head-on. The truck was loaded with 23 tons of stone, police reported.

After the impact, the New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc. truck became fully engulfed in flames with operator Richard Morgart of Everett trapped inside.

No information on Morgart’s condition was reported.

The investigation remains open and active, police reported.

Warriors Mark, Tyrone, Alexandria, Pinecroft and Bellwood fire companies assisted at the scene, along with AMED and PennDOT. The road was closed for several hours as the scene was cleared and police investigated.
