Cyclist holding on to moving car is seriously hurt after falling

A cyclist has been seriously injured after losing his grip while holding on to the side of a moving car[1]. The man in his 40s had to be airlifted to hospital following the incident.

A woman in her 40s has been arrested in connection with the collision on suspicion of dangerous driving and drug driving[2]. She was taken into police custody for questioning.

The cyclist was on a red pushbike was believed to be holding on to a car and being towed along Spa Road, in Melksham, Wiltshire, at around 6.30pm on Wednesday, May 31. Unable to keep his grip on the vehicle, he fell and sustained potentially life-changing injuries.

Melksham Police said that the driver left the scene but was later found by officers. Wiltshire Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch.

A statement from Melksham Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses to either the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the incident or the lead up to it. Anyone who can help is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 0282 of May 31.
