Derby home ‘significantly damaged’ after pick-up truck crashes into car on driveway

A pick-up truck driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after crashing into a car on a driveway which then went into a Derby house. The property in Ladybank Road, in Mickleover,[1] has been left with "significant structural damage" following the incident on Wednesday evening (June 28).

Police,[2] fire and the ambulance service were all called to the junction of Ladybank Road and Catterick Drive,[3] at around 11pm. Ladybank Road remains closed in both directions from Lidgate Close to the A516 as of 10am this morning (Thursday, June 29).

Officers say a Nissan Navaro pick-up truck collided with a Mazda car, which was parked on the driveway. The Mazda then collided with the house. No one reported suffering any serious injuries.

A structural engineer is required to assess the significant damage done to the front of the property, where a window has been smashed and dozens of bricks have been dislodged. A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and remains in police custody this morning.
