Driver extricated from 3-vehicle crash in Montcalm County

MONTCALM COUNTY, MI – Two people were hospitalized and three others received minor injuries Saturday, June 17 after three vehicles crashed in a Montcalm County intersection.

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded around 5:08 p.m. to the crash at North Wyman Road and East Lake Montcalm Road, according to a news release.

Police say a Battle Creek man, 60, driving a Ford Flex west on East Lake Montcalm Road didn’t stop for a stop sign at North Wyman Road. The Ford Flex then struck a northbound 2012 Dodge Ram that was hauling a pontoon boat and a southbound 2011 Buick Lucerne.

The driver of the Ford Flex was extricated from the vehicle and brought to Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital for life threatening injuries. He remains in critical condition.

A 21-year-old California man who was a passenger in the Ford Flex was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two people from the Dodge Ram, a 42-year-old man driving and a 39-year-old Riverdale woman, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Buick, a McBride woman, 43, was also released at the scene with injuries.

Police say everyone involved was wearing seatbelts, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

The crash remains under investigation.
