Lawrence, Mass. man sped off from NH police at 130 mph, police say

A Lawrence[1] man was accused of speeding off from New Hampshire[2] State Police at 130 mph during a police chase Thursday night.
Gabriel Lima, 24, of Lawrence, was charged and arrested in connection with the Thursday night police pursuit, according to a New Hampshire State Police report.
At around 10:23 p.m. Thursday, a New Hampshire state trooper clocked a driver driving erratically at 109 mph on Interstate 93 in Bow. The state trooper turned on their lights and tried to pull the driver over. However, police said the operator drove faster at speeds of 130 mph.
The state trooper did not pursue the car and lost sight of the vehicle as it headed into Concord.
A short while after, another trooper found the car with its lights shut off on the side of the road near a state trooper barrack, the report stated. The driver spotted the state trooper and drove off toward the parking lot of the state trooper barracks.
However, police said he turned around away from the barracks after seeing the state police sign, the report read.
Officials said the man drove erratically at varying speeds in Concord as state police pursued him. The driver crossed a median twice, police added.
The car eventually hit a concrete curb on Manchester Street in Concord and crashed on the Merrimack River Bridge, police said.
Police said they took the driver, later identified as Lima, into custody following the crash. He also was taken to a hospital for treatment.
New Hampshire police charged Lima with three counts of aggravated driving under the influence, two counts of reckless conduct, disobeying an officer, operating without a license and two counts of crossing a median, according to officials.
Lima is set to be arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court on July 20.
New Hampshire State Police are investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Trooper John Zavala at 603-223-8785 or [email protected][5].
