Live: Vehicle fire closes M5 lane in Somerset
A vehicle fire on the M5 near Taunton has caused a lane to be closed this afternoon (June 25). Motorists using the Devon-bound carriageway near Bridgwater are being affected by the lane closure.
The fire was first reported around 5.30pm with a lane closure between Junction 24 and Junction 25 of the M5 in Somerset.[1] Some of this traffic was likely held back by other delays earlier in the day on the M5 southbound, which saw three lanes closed and an hour delay after a caravan overturned near Worcester.
Traffic[2] monitoring service Inrix says: “One lane closed due to vehicle fire on M5 Southbound from J24 A38 Taunton Road (Bridgwater South) to J25 A358 (Taunton). Traffic is coping well. Lane one of three is closed. “
