Long M5 queues as crash near Tiverton sparks traffic delays

Huge traffic queues have been pictured on the M5 near J27 today (June 19) after a crash sparked a lane closure. Roads traffic and monitoring service, Inrix, reported the incident at around 11.13am.

The collision took place on the southbound carriage between J27 A361 Tiverton and J28 A373 Honiton Road. Police say the driver didn’t suffer any injuries and the vehicle was recovered at 1pm.

Traffic was being temporarily held on the motorway due to the incident with drivers’ being warned of 15-minute delays. Inrix reports: “Queueing traffic and one lane closed due to accident, a lorry and a van involved on M5 Southbound from J27 A361 (Tiverton) to J28 A373 Honiton Road (Cullompton / Service Area).

“Travel time is 15 minutes. Camera shows no traffic was passing around 1.05pm until 1.15pm.”
