Lorry driver ‘trapped’ and injured on Cornwall’s A30 after flipping vehicle over
The A30 was closed in Cornwall in both directions earlier today (June 7) after a lorry overturned near St Erme. The incident happened sometime around 10am and the driver was left “trapped” inside his cabin.
Cornwall[1] Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene to help the driver escape. According to a Devon and Cornwall Police[2] spokesperson the driver sustained “minor injuries” as a result of the collision.
The A30[3] was reopened at approximately 11am. A police spokesperson said: “Police were notified at around 10am following reports of a lorry on its side on the A30 at St Erme.
“A road closure was put in place while officers dealt with the incident. Fire Services attended the scene after it was reported that the driver of the lorry was trapped.
“The driver suffered minor injuries. The road was reopened at around 11am.”
At the time of the incident, traffic reporting service Inrix reported: “A30 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to overturned lorry from A39 (Carland Cross, Carland Cross) to B3285 (Boxheater Junction, Zelah).
“Traffic not helped by the roadworks in the area.”
