Man arrested after allegedly ramming into car with stolen truck in Pauoa

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Honolulu police have arrested a 38-year-old man following a crash in Pauoa Monday morning.

According to HPD’s arrest logs, Jonathan Hewett faces auto theft and criminal property damage charges.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. on Booth Road.

Police said Hewett reversed the stolen truck into a car carrying a woman and four children.

No injuries were immediately reported.

Hewett fled the scene but was arrested near the scene about an hour and a half later.

The incident prompted police to close the road for several hours but all lanes have since been reopened.

An investigation is ongoing.
