Man cut free from vehicle and flown to hospital after crash
A man was cut free from his vehicle and flown to hospital following a crash. Emergency services were called to the junction of the A5104 and Pant y Ffordd Road outside Treuddyn on Wednesday evening following the two-vehicle crash, which happened at around 6.15pm.
Fire crews used cutting equipment to free the man, before he was flown to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, which is home to a major trauma centre. A Welsh Ambulance Service[1] spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.11pm last night, Wednesday 14 June, to reports of a road traffic collision in the Treuddyn area of Flintshire[2].
“We sent two rapid response cars and an emergency ambulance to the scene, where crews were also supported by an air ambulance. One person was flown to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.”
A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service[4] spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.26pm to Corwen Road, Treuddyn, Flintshire to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles. Crews used cutting gear to remove a male from one of the vehicles.
“He was conveyed to hospital by helicopter.” Yesterday North Wales Police[5] posted on Facebook[6]: “Due to an RTC (road traffic collision) at the crossroads of the A5104 and Pant y Ffordd Road outside Treuddyn the road is currently closed.
“Please avoid the area for the time being. Thank you for your co-operation.
In an update today, a police spokesperson said: “We received a call at 6.11pm last evening (Weds) reporting an RTC on Ffordd Pant Y Ffordd, Treuddyn involving a van towing a horse box and a Skoda Fabia.
“Officers attended alongside colleagues from NWFRS, WAST and Helimed. The road was closed until approximately 11pm and one person was flown to hospital in Stoke.”
