Man dies after crash on A338 near Ashley Heath roundabout

The 31-year-old man from Hampshire died at the scene of the collision on the A338 northbound which happened at around 9.25pm on Thursday, June 15.

His next of kin has been informed and the coroner has been notified.

A woman in her 70s has been taken to hospital in a critical condition following the crash which involved a bronze coloured Lexus and a silver Nissan Micra.

While a woman in her 30s sustained serious injuries.

Three men who reportedly left the scene were arrested nearby on suspicion of driving offences.

A road closure remains in place between Blackwater junction and Ashley Heath Roundabout.

Dorset Police say it will remain in place until around 11am today, Friday, June 16, to enable a safe investigation of the scene.

Police Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Most importantly, our thoughts are with the family of the man who has sadly died in this collision.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of the incident and I would urge any witnesses to please contact us.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured anything relevant on dashcam footage.

“We are aware that the current road closure has a big impact in this area and I am very grateful for motorists’ patience while it is necessary to stay in place.”
