Man dies in hospital weeks after serious crash on A65
A 77-year-old man has sadly died following a three vehicle crash on the A65 Settle bypass earlier this month.
It is reported that the incident took place on the A65[1] near the junction of Buck Haw Brow at around 12 noon on Friday, June 16. A red VW Polo[2] travelling south towards Skipton[3] was involved in a collision with a yellow convertible Mini and a white and yellow DAF white line painting vehicle.
The road was closed for some time following the crash and a 77-year-old was rushed to hospital from the scene. Tragically the man from Bury, Greater Manchester, who had been driving the polo has since died in hospital.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We’re appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage as part of a fatal collision investigation in the Settle area. The incident happened on the A65 Settle bypass, near the junction of Buck Haw Brow, at around 12pm (noon) on Friday June 16, 2023.
“It involved a red VW Polo that was travelling south along the A65 towards Skipton when it was involved in a collision with a yellow convertible Mini (roof down) and a white and yellow DAF white line painting vehicle. The road was closed for some time whilst an investigation was carried out.
“The 77-year-old man who was driving the Polo has sadly since died in hospital. He is from Bury, Greater Manchester.”
