An appeal has been launched to find witnesses after a pensioner died in a Solihull[1] road crash after his car overturned. The incident took place on the B4439 Old Warwick Road between Lapworth and Hockley Heath last Monday (June 5) just after 4.15pm.

Paramedics attended the incident and found a man in a critical condition. He was given advanced life support but nothing could be done to save him. A West Midlands Ambulance Service[2] spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a car that had overturned and one male.

“The man was found to be in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support. However, despite their best efforts it sadly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

The man, in his 70s, was the only occupant of the car. His vehicle is believed to have left the road and hit a sign.

Now Warwickshire[4] Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward. A spokesperson for the force said: “Warwickshire Police is appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage following a fatal collision near Lapworth last Monday (June 5).

“Shortly after 4.15pm, emergency services were called to a single-vehicle collision on the B4439 Old Warwick Road between Lapworth and Hockley Heath. A car is understood to have left the carriageway and collided with a sign.

“A man in his 70s, the single occupant of the vehicle, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“If anyone witnessed the collision or has any dashcam footage, please call 101 or report online at warwickshire.police.uk quoting incident number 292 of 5 June 2023.”
