Motorcyclist seriously injured near Sutton Coldfield after crash with car at M6 Toll junction

A motorcyclist has been seriously injured and his pillion passenger also hurt following a crash with a car near Sutton Coldfield[1]. The two-vehicle crash took place in Kingsbury Road, close to the junction with the M6 Toll in Curdworth on Wednesday (June 7) morning shortly after 10.30am.

A car collided with a motorbike with the rider, a man, suffering ‘potentially serious injuries’ and his female passenger having less serious injuries. Two ambulances and the West Midlands CARE (Central Accident, Resuscitation & Emergency) team attended the scene.

They were both treated by paramedics, with the rider taken to Heartlands Hospital[2] and his passenger taken to Good Hope Hospital[3] in Sutton.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service[5] said: “We were called at 10.46am on Wednesday to a road traffic collision involving a motorbike and a car at the junction of Kingsbury Road and the M6 Toll in Curdworth near Sutton Coldfield. Two ambulances and the West Midlands Care Team attended the scene.

“Upon arrival, we found two patients from the motorbike who were a man and a woman. The man who was the driver had sustained potentially serious injuries.

“A woman who was a passenger on the motorbike had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They each received treatment at the scene. The driver was conveyed to Heartlands Hospital for further treatment. The passenger was conveyed to Good Hope Hospital.”

Now Warwickshire[7] Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward. In a statement a spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage following a collision involving a car and a motorbike near Sutton Coldfield on Wednesday morning (June 7).

“At around 10.43am yesterday morning police received reports of a car and a motorbike having collided in Curdworth, where the Kingsbury Road meets Farthing Lane.

“The rider and pillion on the motorcycle received non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital. Anyone with information is asked to contact us via Warwickshire.police.co.uk/report[8], citing incident 92 of 7 June.”
