North Ridgeville seeks name for soccer field; looks to hire police officers

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio – Residents can participate in city business by helping to a name a soccer field, applying to be hired as a police officer and picking up a free wheel lock offered for Hyundai owners.

The North Ridgeville Parks and Recreation Department is asking for suggestions for a new moniker for the Root Road soccer complex. As North Ridgeville begins to create new city signs, the soccer complex, which has been a beloved family park for many years, needs a new name.

Visit the city’s website at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeNtzo-EM-ngyytjzoBRRuV-zEltoMKXKA04JZhC5HbxkXG3A/viewform[1] and take a short survey to give your suggestions or to suggest that no new name is needed.

The survey is available online for three weeks and the chosen name will be announced June 30.

Apply to be a police officer

For any current police officer who may be looking to move to another police department, North Ridgeville is hiring. They are looking for lateral transfer patrol officers.

Just as lawyers may move from one law firm to another or doctors may do the same within hospitals, an experienced police officer sometimes wants to leave one police agency to work for another. They may find more opportunities and options within a “lateral” move.

The parameters in North Ridgeville include the following:

· Special assignments such as the detective bureau

· K-9s

· SWAT teams

· Bomb squads

· Accident investigation

· Evidence technician

· School resource officer

The position’s salary ranges from $65,936 to $76,294, according to the North Ridgeville Police Department. There is also a yearly clothing allowance and a college incentive program.

Protect your Hyundai

For those who drive a Hyundai and might be worried about the increase in thefts of that car brand in particular, the North Ridgeville Police Department has a free car lock for you.

The lock is provided courtesy of Hyundai, which is working with law enforcement on this specific problem.

It is a steering wheel lock only for local residents who either own or lease a Hyundai that was produced before November 2021.

Come to the police station at 7307 Avon-Belden Road with proof that you own the vehicle to claim the lock.
