Police plea to tired drivers after collision rolls 4×4 on the A31 at Castle Malwood Hill, near Ringwood

A DRIVER falling asleep at the wheel has been blamed for a two-vehicle crash on the A31 near Ringwood.

A 4x4 was slammed onto its side on a verge off the westbound carriageway at Castle Malwood Hill after another vehicle lost control shortly before 5pm on Monday.

No injuries were reported as the incident partially blocked the carriageway.

A picture of the aftermath was shared by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Roads Policing Unit on social media with a warning to other road users.

“The innocent driver of this 4x4 was struck by a motorist on the A31 who fell asleep at the wheel,” the post said.

“Thankfully no one was injured. Please, pull over and take a rest when driving if you feel tired.”
