Police probe after fire rips through Stoke-on-Trent home
Firefighters remain at the scene after a blaze ripped through a home in Stoke-on-Trent. Crews were sent to Heron Street, Heron Cross[1], at around 8am this morning (June 8).
A fire was discovered in the bedroom of the property which was empty at the time. Police officers then attended a short time later. The cause of the blaze has not been released at this stage but a police investigation is ongoing.
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters remain at the scene of a house fire in Stoke-on-Trent. We were called to a home on Heron Street, Fenton, just after 8am this morning following reports of a house fire. Crews from Cannock, Hanley and Longton attended with our colleagues from Staffordshire Police.
“Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish a fire inside the bedroom by 8.45am. No one was inside at the time and crews are still at the scene.”
A Staffordshire Police[2] spokesman said: “We were called to a home on Heron Street, Fenton, just after 8.20am this morning following reports of a house fire. Officers attended with our colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service who extinguished a fire inside a bedroom. No one was inside at the time of the fire and inquiries are ongoing at the scene.”
