Somerset County fatal accident on Sunday

On Sunday evening, Somerset County Sheriffs responded to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Route 201 in Madison. 

A white 2000 GMC pickup truck was heading northbound, and went off the road on the left hand side, striking a storage building and rolling over, coming to rest on its roof. 

Steven Young, 42, of Hartland, was partially ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. Paul Pronteau, 55, of Sand Coulee, Montana, was not injured and declined medical treatment. 

Neither passenger was wearing a seat belt. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

This crash was reconstructed by the Maine State Police. Assisting Deputy Slate at the scene were Sgt. Joseph Jackson and Deputy Ashley Smith. The Madison Fire Department and the Upper Kennebec Valley Ambulance Service also responded to this crash.
