Stevenage van driver seriously injured and left trapped in vehicle after hitting barrier on Monkswood Way
A van driver has been taken to hospital with 'life-threatening' injuries after colliding with a barrier in Stevenage. The incident occurred today (Thursday, June 22) when Herts Police was called at around 6.05am after reports of a crash at the junction with Broadhall Way on Monkswood Way in Stevenage.
It was reported that a white van had collided with a roadside barrier and overturned onto its side, leaving the driver trapped. This incident led to the emergency services rushing to the scene, including Herts Police, Herts Fire and Rescue Service the East of England Ambulance Service, where police cordons were put in place.
This allowed the emergency services to identify what had occurred in Stevenage[1]. The collision led the driver to be rushed to hospital with 'life-threatening' injuries, however the incident led to major delays for Herts drivers.
Herts Police[2] are appealing for witnesses and information following the crash. Sergeant Rebecca Cornell, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries are continuing at this time to establish the circumstances around the collision. As part of this, we are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.
“Did you see a white Ford Transit van being driven in the area around the time? Have you captured any dash cam footage which may be able to assist us? We believe that a witness may also have stopped at the scene, but left prior to police arrival. If this was you, please get in touch with us.”
