Three injured with driver left fighting for his life after serious crash in Shropshire

A two-car crash in Shropshire[1] has left three people injured with one man fighting for his life. The collision happened on the A5, between Gledrid and Halton roundabouts, at around 8.20am today (June 29).

Paramedics treated three men who had been seriously injured in the crash involving a car and a van. The car driver sustained life-threatening injures and was quickly rushed to Royal Stoke Hospital.

A second man, who was driving the van, sustained potentially life-threatening injures. He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.[2]

A third man, who was a passenger in the car, sustained serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Police are appealing for information following the horror crash.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service[4] spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews discovered three men. The first was the driver of the car. He was assessed and had sustained life-threatening injuries.

“He received advanced trauma care at the scene. He was conveyed to Royal Stoke Hospital by the Welsh Air Ambulance.

“The second was the driver of the van. He was assessed and had sustained potentially life-threatening injuries.

“He received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene. He was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by air ambulance for further treatment.

“The third was a passenger in the car. He had sustained serious injuries that were not life threatening. He received treatment at the scene. He was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by land ambulance for further assessment.”

A West Midlands Police[5] spokesperson added: “Three people have sustained injuries and one is in a life-threatening condition. Investigating officers would like to appeal for any witnesses to the collision to come forward or anyone who was passing through the area aro und the time of the collision who may have dash-cam footage.
