Three people taken to hospital after crash on A358 near Taunton

The collision happened between Cross Keys roundabout and Cotford St Luke roundabout. 

All emergency services were in attendance and police closed the road.

Taunton Fire Station said on their arrival “crews were immediately sent to the scene and found that a car had been in collision with a flatbed lorry, and there was one person still trapped within the vehicle”.

The full statement said: “A call was received at fire control from the police reporting a collision involving two vehicles with someone trapped.

“Crews were immediately sent to the scene and found that a car had been in collision with a flatbed lorry, and there was one person still trapped within the vehicle.

“E-draulic cutting equipment, small tools, and stabilisation equipment were used to release the casualty and make the vehicle safe.

“Three further walking wounded were also assessed by ambulance service and all four were transferred to hospital.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 10.10am to an incident in the Taunton area.

“We sent two double-crew land ambulances, operations officer, air ambulance, and doctor. Three individuals were taken by land ambulances to Musgrove Park Hospital.”

An update shared by Avon and Somerset Police this morning said: “A police spokesperson said: “We are currently dealing with an RTC on the A358 between Cross Keys roundabout and Cotford St Luke Roundabout.

“For those looking to go towards Minehead[1]/Williton or those coming into Taunton, please use the green route as provided below, through Cotford St Luke and Norton Fitzwarren.”

A police update released this afternoon said: “A two-vehicle collision was reported on the A358 near Bishops Lydeard this morning (Thu 15 Jun) shortly after 10.05am.

“Officers attended, as did the fire and ambulance services. The air ambulance was also in attendance.”
