Van driver hospitalised after crash shut A494 stretch in both directions

A motorist was rushed to hospital after crash shut a stretch of the A494 for several hours. The accident took place during the morning rush hour[1] on the outskirts of Ruthin[2].

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.28am to reports of a single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a van on Lôn Fawr in Ruthin.

“We sent a paramedic in a rapid response car and an emergency ambulance to the scene, where crews were also supported by an air ambulance. One person was taken by road to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.”

North Wales Police[3] said Lôn Fawr, was closed in both directions as a result of the crash. The road reopened at shortly after 12.20pm.
