Members of the East Division were called to the area of Darlington Blvd. and King St. E. in Courtice for two suspects who fled the LCBO with a “large quantity of stolen merchandise.” Police say the suspects fled in a pickup truck at a “high rate of speed” and struck a vehicle on Hwy. 2 and Clarington Blvd.

Article content

Police found the vehicle and a pursuit began, travelling westbound on Hwy. 401.

The police force’s Air1 unit followed the suspect vehicle, which had sustained damage due to the crash and the suspects eventually exited the highway into Whitby, where they continued driving for a short period of time. Air 1 continued to monitor the suspects while officers staged the area. The suspects then drove into a gated compound in the area of South Blair St. and Water St. where, police said, they attempted to carjack a tractor-trailer.
