75-year-old man dies in single-vehicle crash in Clay, deputies say
Clay, N.Y. -- A possible medical condition caused a driver to lose control of a vehicle Sunday that veered off a road in Clay, across two culverts and land against a tree, deputies said.
Around 5:44 p.m., deputies responded to Oswego Road (Rt. 57) for a call for a single-car accident with injuries, said Deputy William Pufky, a spokesperson for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
A 75-year-old Liverpool man was driving north on Oswego Road when a possible medical condition caused the driver to go off the road, Pufky said.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Upstate University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Pufky said. A passenger, also from Liverpool, was not injured, he said.
The north lane of Oswego Road has been closed.
The accident occurred next to Purcell’s Wallpaper & Paint Co. at 7932 Oswego Rd.
