A63 closed after crash near Humber Bridge – live updates

The A63 Clive Sullivan Way is closed eastbound due to a crash.

A stretch of the eastbound carriageway is closed between the A15 Humber Bridge and Priory Way, Hessle. A witness said the road was at a standstill as far back as North Ferriby.

The incident will add to existing delays around the city due to roadworks that have closed Myton Bridge on the A63.

One witness said ambulances, police cars and the air ambulance had been called to the scene. The incident is believed to have happened shortly after 2pm.

UPDATED 3.38pm: Police say the road is closed due to a collision just before the Humber Bridge and are advising motorists to avoid the area. Witnesses say police have started “reversing people out through a slip road into Hessle”.

Congestion has also been reported on most roads into the city centre, due to the Myton Bridge closure. Further details will follow below.

UPDATED 5.05pm: Police have now confirmed that the A63 has reopened and normal traffic flow has resumed.

In a statement, Humberside Police said: “We are pleased to share that the A63 has been cleared and is now fully re open. Thank you for your patience whilst we dealt with the incident.”
