Boy, 11, airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after crash near Somerset border

A boy, aged 11, has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries and a man has been arrested following a crash in Dorset[1] this afternoon (July 24).

Police were called to the scene following the collision between an Audi A5 and a concrete mixer lorry in Bradford Road, Sherborne[2], near to the Oxley Sports Centre.

A man aged in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and remains in police custody, say Dorset Police. The A30 remains closed eastbound while accident investigation work takes place.

Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to it, to please get in touch if they have not already spoken to police.

"Also, I would like to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage. The road remains closed at this time while we carry out a thorough examination of the scene and I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding at this time."
