Child airlifted to hospital with ‘serious’ injuries after crash involving lorry
A CHILD has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving an Audi and a lorry.
The 11-year-old boy was injured alongside a second person following the crash in Sherborne, where a road closure remains in place.
Dorset Police says it received a report at 12.36pm on Monday, July 24, of a collision involving a blue Audi A5 and a concrete mixer lorry in Bradford Road near to the Oxley Sports Centre.
The boy was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment to serious injuries. A second person has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be serious.
A man aged in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and remains in police custody.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to it, to please get in touch if they have not already spoken to police.
“Also, I would like to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.
“The road remains closed at this time while we carry out a thorough examination of the scene and I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding at this time.”
