Driver arrested after ‘falling asleep at wheel’ before crash on M62

It comes after a two-vehicle crash involving a white Ford van and a grey Nissan car.

The incident occurred on the westbound carriageway of the motorway between junction seven for Rainhill Stoops and junction six for Tarbock Island.

North West Motorway Police attended and a man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

The force said: “Collision earlier on the M62 between junctions seven and six westbound.

“The white van collided with the grey Nissan, causing the Nissan to leave the carriageway.

“The driver of the white van said he had fallen asleep at the wheel.

He was arrested for providing a positive drugs wipe for cannabis.”
