Edinburgh emergency services scramble to collision as major road blocked off

Emergency services have raced to a collision on a major road on Thursday afternoon.

Police Scotland, the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Scottish Fire and Rescure Service are currently at the incident on Queensferry Road, the A90 Barnton Westbound.

The fire service received a call at around 11.56pm on Thursday following a crash between a car and a lorry. Three appliances are currently in attendance along with ambulances and police.

Eyewitnesses have warned others to avoid the area near Barnton and Drumbrae as the road is closed off by emergency services.

It is currently unknown is there are any casualties.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue said: "We received a call at 11.56pm reporting a collision between a car and lorry on Queensferry Road, Edinburgh. Three appliances are currently in attendance."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.50pm on Thursday, 20 July, we were called to a report of a crash involving a car and a lorry on Queensferry Road, Edinburgh.

"Emergency services are at the scene."

Lothian Buses have stated there will be diversions and disruption. On its website, it says: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Queensferry Road and are instead diverted via Quality Street, Crammond Road South, Gamekeepers Road and Whithouse Road westbound only until further notice. Due to increased traffic on this diversion buses are also subject to delays."

Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
