‘Horrendous’ M56 police chase caught on camera as burglars try to escape
Footage has been released of a “horrendous” 27 mile police chase on the M56.[1]
Police were in pursuit of a white Vauxhall Vivaro van as it was suspected of being used in a number of burglaries and raids across North West and Wales. A court was shown a video of the moment police caught the suspects who at one point, drove the wrong way on the hard shoulder along the M6 and M56.[2]
One gang member[3] also climbs out and runs away before he is arrested, while the other two were arrested inside the vehicle. Caernarfon Crown Court heard officers were passed the registration number of a suspicious van.
They then threw a ‘Stinger’ device in front of it in Deeside but that failed to stop it. A 27 mile chase then followed until driver Aidan Quirk, 30, of no fixed address, was finally stopped by officers near Helsby in Cheshire.
Quirk, was sentenced to eight years and six months for conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of a Class A drug, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and without insurance, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis, North Wales Live reports.[5][6]
Curtis Roberts, 28, of Elleray Drive, Liverpool, was sentenced to six years and nine months for conspiracy to commit burglary. And Daniel Doyle, 28, of Kinross Road, Sefton, was sentenced to six years for conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of a Class B drug.

Prosecutor Elen Owen, said many victims targeted by the burglars were elderly. She said one woman in her nineties in Pantymwyn near Mold had been on holiday when her daughter told her her home had been targeted. Her husband’s grandfather’s football medal won in 1908 was stolen along with watches and rings.
The pensioner now feels “vulnerable and petrified that she might be burgled again” and often asks “Why was it me? Had they been watching me?”
She added that the pensioner said: “I go to get a piece of jewellery and it’s not there. All these memories (items) lost when they should have been there for me to decide what to do with them and who to give them too.” The judge The Recorder Wyn Lloyd Jones said footage of the capture was “horrendous” to watch and condemned the men for violating their victims’ homes.
