Live: M5 lane closed in Somerset after multi-vehicle crash

A multi-vehicle crash on the M5 led to a lane closure and traffic delays heading into the evening rush hour. The incident has taken place between junctions 20 (Clevedon) and 19 (Portishead).

Traffic monitoring website Inrix says the incident involves three cars which had “gone into the back of each other”. Images from traffic cameras on the M5 also show a camper van at the scene, although it is unclear if this vehicle was involved in the crash.

Inrix says traffic is queuing back to junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare. The lane has reopened, but delays of around 25 minutes remain heading towards Bristol.
