M1 northbound, junction 9, crash caused miles of congestion
At around 6pm, National Highways announced that one of four lanes was closed northbound within junction 9 at Redbourn so police could work at the scene.
The junction 9 entry slip was also closed, and delays of 42 minutes were estimated.
The #M1[1] northbound entry slip at J9 (#Redbourn[2]) is now open following the earlier collision.
All lanes are also open within J9.

By 6.36pm the entry slip road and all lanes within junction 9 were open.
National Highways still warned of delays lasting 33 minutes and approximately six miles of congestion remained on approach.
At around 7.15pm, National Highways had still highlighted delays on its interactive map.
Herts police and East of England Ambulance have been approached for a response.
Chiswell Green
In an unrelated incident, a man in his 70s who was airlifted to hospital has died[5] after being hit by a van.
The crash involving a grey Citroen van and a pedestrian[6] was on the A405 near Chiswell Green at around 4.05pm on Monday, 26 June[7].
Police confirmed today (July 20) that the man died on June 29 and his family has been made aware.
