M5 delays of an hour in Somerset after crash between car and caravan
There are delays of up to an hour on the M5 in Somerset[1] following a crash this afternoon (July 5). According to National Highways, two lanes are closed heading northbound between Bristol Airport and Weston-super-Mare[2].
The collision, which involved a car and a caravan, took place between junction 22 and junction 21 shortly before 12.30pm. The emergency services remain at the scene and motorists have been urged to plan ahead of their journeys.
National Highways said in a tweet at 1.05pm: “2 (of 3) lanes closed on the #M5 northbound between J22 (@BristolAirport) and J21 (#WestonSuperMare) due to a collision involving a car with a caravan. Emergency services are on scene.
“Delays of 60 minutes with 5 miles of congestion on approach. Please plan for your journey.”
The latest log from traffic monitoring site Inrix says: “Long delays, stop-start traffic and two lanes closed due to accident, a car and a caravan involved on M5 Northbound between Sedgemoor Services and J21 A370 (Weston-super-mare). Camera shows lanes two and three ( of three) are closed, between J22 (Burnham-On-Sea) and J21 (Weston-super-mare).”
