M6 northbound closed following crash

THE M6 northbound is partly closed due to a multi-vehicle crash (July 13), involving a heavy goods vehicle and a van. 

The road is closed between J41, near Lazonby, and J42, near Carlisle[1]

The M6 northbound entry slip is also closed.

Lane 3 is also closed on the southbound carriageway.

Two people were injured in the van, however, it’s not believed to be life-threatening. 

No injuries to the HGV driver reported.

According to Cumbria’s Fire and Rescue Service, two people, who were trapped, had to be extricated from a vehicle. 

The incident was first reported at 6:14am. 

Diversion routes are currently in place.

A spokesperson from National Highways said: ‘Road users are advised to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol on road signs’

Exit J41, take the fourth exit onto the B5305 eastbound, signed A6.

At Stoneybeck roundabout take A6 northbound first exit.

Continue straight on through Plumpton and High/Low Hesket.

J42 (M6), Golden Fleece roundabout take fourth exit onto M6 northbound.
