A MAJOR Scots road has been shut down in both directions after a serious three-car crash.

The A9 has been closed at Ralia junction, near Newtonmore, due to the collision.

Police[1] and ambulance[2] crews have been scrambled to the scene.

Traffic Scotland updated drivers[3] about the situation and urged them to take care when approaching the area.

They posted to social media: “The A9 is currently CLOSED in both directions due to a serious collision.

“Police and Ambulance are currently on scene.

“Traffic is currently stationary on approach, please take care.”

A Police Scotland[4] spokesperson said: “We were made aware around 12.45pm on Thursday, 27 July of a crash involving three vehicles on the A9 near the Ralia Junction, close to Newtonmore.

“The road is currently closed and emergency services are at the scene.”
