Man, 57, dies in collision with HGV which closed main road on Leicestershire border

A man has died after a collision with a HGV close to eth junction of two major roads near the Leicestershire[1] border. The incident closed off the road for several hours while police investigations were carried out following the crash.

The collision took place on the A52 east of Bottesford near the southbound junction with the A1 at Grantham on Tuesday (July 11). It involved a male pedestrian and a HGV, with several emergency crews called to the scene, reports LincolnshireLive[2].

However, in a statement Lincolnshire Police confirmed that the pedestrian, a 57-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no reported injuries to the HGV driver, while the A52 was closed for more than seven hours while investigations got underway.

Officers confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal collision. They have turned to the public for help and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: "Our Force Control Room received a call at 12.05pm [on July 11] reporting a collision on the A52, near the southbound junction with the A1. Emergency services attended but sadly the man, aged 57 from the local area, was pronounced dead at the scene. We have made no arrests relating to this incident.”
