Man charged after death of woman struck by two cars

NSW police have charged a 20-year-old man over a fatal car accident on the Central Coast in which a woman was struck by two cars.

Emergency services were called to Ocean Beach Road at Woy Woy just before 8pm on Saturday after a 68-year-old woman sustained critical injuries.

Witnesses told police the woman had gotten off a bus and was crossing the street when she was struck by a car headed south.

Police said the woman was then thrown onto the road where she was hit again by another car travelling north.

Police allege the driver of the first car failed to stop.

The woman was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

The driver of the second car, a 60-year-old man, stopped to help and was taken to Gosford Hospital for mandatory testing.

Investigating officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit later executed a crime scene warrant at a Central Coast home where a Volkswagen was seized.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the same address on Sunday morning and later charged with failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death.

He was granted bail and is due to appear in Gosford Local Court on July 19.

Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
