Mishawaka man dies after being struck by train near McKinley Avenue crossing in Mishawaka
MISHAWAKA — Auhorities are investigating the death of a Mishawaka man who was hit and killed Thursday afternoon by a train in Mishawaka.
Mishawaka police said Friday that Daniel Voltava, 36, of Mishawaka, was struck on the Canadian National[1] tracks between McKinley Avenue and Fir Road around 4 p.m. Thursday.
Mishawaka police said a witness said Voltava was walking southbound down the middle of the tracks when he was apparently struck by the train.
The accident resulted in closures of the crossings at Douglas Road, Day Road and McKinley Avenue for several hours.

The pedestrian-train fatality is the second one in a little more than a month in Mishawaka.
On June 21, a man died after a train-pedestrian accident on the Norfolk Southern[3] railroad tracks near Russell Street in Mishawaka.
Police and investigators from Mishawaka police, Norfolk Southern and Amtrak were at the scene where a body was found about 50 yards west of the Russell Street crossing.
