Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Bolton

BOLTON, Conn. (WFSB) - A first responder was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic near the scene of an accident in Bolton on Monday evening.

A motor vehicle crash was first reported on Monday night in the area of Rt. 44 and Quarry Road around 5:49 p.m.

Four Bolton Fire Department apparatus responded, assisted by the Coventry Fire Department, according to Bolton Fire Chief Bruce A. Dixon.

One person was transported with injuries to the hospital as a result of the initial crash and they are expected to be fine.

While crews operated at the scene of the incident, a member of the fire department directing traffic was struck by a passing vehicle.

The victim was transported to the hospital with reported injuries.

Bolton Fire Chief Bruce A. Dixon said the victim was a member of the town’s fire police service.

No further information was immediately available as to the severity.

Connecticut State Police responded to conduct an investigation into the incident.

Rt. 44 was briefly closed but it has since reopened, according to Bolton Fire Department.
