Police appeal as man dies after crash between car and lorry

Police ^[1] are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a collision between a car and a truck in Staffordshire. Emergency services - including police, paramedics and firefighters - were called out to the A515 between Kings Bromley and Lichfield ^[2] at around 7am this morning to reports of a crash.

West Midlands Ambulance Service ^[3] says that sadly nothing could be done to save the driver of the grey BMW who was pronounced dead at the scene. Specially-trained officers are today supporting the family of the man, who was in his 30s.

The driver of the Renault lorry remained at the scene and is continuing to help officers with their enquiries. The road - between its junctions with Wood End Lane and Common Lane - was shut for a number of hours before reopening in the afternoon.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police ^[4] said: "At 7am, we were called to the A515 in Kings Bromley after a grey BMW and a Renault lorry collided. Officers went to the scene with paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service and colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. The road was closed for a number of hours whilst emergency services worked at the scene.

"The driver of the BMW, a man in his 30s, was found with serious injuries. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Specially-trained officers have been deployed to support his family at this difficult and distressing time. The driver of the lorry stayed at the scene and has been helping us with our enquiries.

"We are keen to speak to anyone with any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the area at the time or those with any information which could help collision investigators."

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and two paramedic officers to the scene on Lichfield Road, close to Kings Bromley Marina.

A spokeswoman said: "On arrival, crews found a car and a lorry had been involved in a collision. Sadly, it quickly became clear that the driver of the car, a man, could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene. There were no other patients requiring assessment.”
